Mom Takes Baby To Bar, But Leaves Her 2-Year-Old Son In Car For Happy Hour.

Jessica Christian
A Texas woman's quick trip to Margaritaville could leave her wasting away in jail.
Authorities say that Jessica Christian locked her 2-year-old son in a hot car outside a Tejano restaurant in Dallas while she went inside to down four fruity cocktails in under forty minutes, theCarroll County Times reported.
A witness called 911 after discovering the child sitting inside the car -- reportedly left with the windows cracked and engine off. Police arrested Christian when she returned to vehicle upon exiting the restaurant.
"It doesn't take a lot for temperatures to easily exceed 140 degrees inside of a car," Lt. Joel Lavender of Dallas-Fire Rescue told MyFoxDFW.
The suspect told police that she stopped to pick up a take-out order from the restaurant, but a receipt obtained from the bartender showed that Christian purchased four margaritas.
Christian's son was sweating and dehydrated when police freed him from the car. He is expected to make a full recovery.
Christian is charged with child abandonment and child endangerment, according to a police report.

Father Kills Son Then Tries To Take Own Life

Mouton

When Houston police responded to 57-year-old Joseph Mouton's suicidal phone call, a search of the apartment turned up results that were far from routine.
Around 7:40 a.m. Wednesday, the body of 6-month-old Joseph Elijah Mouton was found wrapped in a blanket and placed in his father's refrigeratorthe Houston Chronicle reported.
A cause of death has not yet been determined and an autopsy is currently underway, but police told the paper that, as the paramedics began working on him, the father yelled he had killed his baby. Other reports claim the father said the baby stopped breathing on his own and was only placed in the refrigerator after his death.
Paramedics responding to the call had to force their way into the apartment with the help of the building's maintenance staff. Once inside, they found Joseph Mouton with what appeared to be several self-inflicted wounds. According to NBC affiliate KPRC, Mouton was high when he killed his son and sources told the station that he then tried to kill himself by overdosing on pills.
He has previously had trouble with the law and served time for attempted murder charges in 1988, drug charges in 2004, and domestic abuse of the baby's mother this fall around the time of Joseph Elijah's birth.
The discovery was not only a shock to police, but also to neighbors, who claimed they always saw a loving father and son around the apartment complex.

White Woman Drives Across Highway To Hit A Black Teen Head On.

A collision between a Jeep and a go-cart in Pearland, Texas has sparked a race debate that’s initiated a flood of phone calls and e-mails from across the country.

But while people on the outside are debating race, those close to what happened are shutting down that argument. Still, they have a problem with what’s occurred and a bigger problem that the woman hasn’t been arrested.

“Race is not an issue, what is an issue is right and wrong,” said the victim’s father Jules Moor. Moor has filed a lawsuit against the woman who investigators say drove her Jeep Wrangler into his 13-year-old son’s go-cart on March 13, 2012, as he was riding in the 2600 block of Lakecrest Drive, where he lives.

His son was rushed to the hospital with head and neck injuries. “I don’t think, I know for a fact that she intentionally did it,” said Moor. “She left from the northbound lane, crossed over into the southbound lane, jumped the curb and hit my son head on in his go-cart.”

The Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office did not arrest the woman at the scene or charge her with a crime. Instead, investigators chose to take it to a grand jury. Moor is frustrated and wants charges filed against the woman, who lives around the corner from him. “I want justice to happen. I want a felony charge to be taken against this woman,” Moor said.

Black Child Begs For Life After Bring Shot In Head

Four year old Isaiah Nicholas is now in a coma after being shot in the head by a man who fired on a group of children at a playground in Houston.  The boy held his mother’s hand in the ambulance on the way to the hospital, repeatedly saying “Mama, I don’t want to die,” during the drive.

He is now unconscious in critical condition at Hermann Memorial Children’s Hospital.  Houston police say that the suspect is known, but remains at large.  There was reportedly an argument that started before the shooting began.

Isaiah’s grandmother, Lisa Ceasar, says that she heard arguing before the gun shots at 5 pm and came out on her porch.   The man was reportedly aiming at the porch and a game room where children were playing, including Isaiah.

“I saw that man shooting up my house and the bullets flying.”

After the shooting started, that’s when Lisa went into the house to find her son lying on the ground, next to his two year old brother Adrian.  He was covered in blood.

The shooting of Isaiah Nicholas is yet another call to arms for all of us who insist upon putting an end to this kind of senseless violence within the black community.  I personally recall a similar incident this year in my hometown of Louisville, Kentucky, where a child was shot in the head after a man fired bullets into the home after an argument.  In another incident in Memphis, a one year old boy was shot after an argument.  The list of such tragedies is long enough to fill this page many times over.

Man Could See Freedom After DNA not His.

A Texas man whose conviction for sexually assaulting a 6-month-old girl raised questions about the science behind determining how children die has won a key legal battle. The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals on Wednesday threw out the conviction of Ernie Lopez, ruling that the Amarillo man's original attorneys failed him by not calling potentially important medical experts as witnesses.

Now the Amarillo district attorney must decide whether to retry Lopez, who has been in prison for nine years. Lopez is serving a 60-year sentence.

Last June, reporting by NPR's investigative unit, working with journalists from PBS Frontline and ProPublica, found that Lopez could have been falsely accused and convicted.

Ernie Lopez is serving a 60-year prison sentence for a crime he, and medical experts, say he didn't commit.
