Miami Beach police say a New York Knicks player has been arrested on a bench warrant for not having a valid driver's license.

Sgt. Bobby Hernandez says 26-year-old J.R. Smith was stopped Thursday night on Washington Avenue in South Beach. A routine search revealed the bench warrant and he was arrested.

Details were not immediately available on what led police to stop Smith around 8:30 p.m.

Hernandez says Smith was taken to the Miami-Dade County jail, where officials say he bonded out early Friday.

No attorney was listed on jail records for Smith, whose legal name is Earl Joseph Smith.

$220 Nike Shoes Cause Foot Locker To Call Out Police

Concerns about disturbances among large crowds waiting to buy special-edition Nike shoes tied to this weekend’s NBA All-Star Game prompted stores in several states to cancel the releases, media reports say.

Of particular interest among many would-be shoppers, according to the reports, was the $220 Nike Foamposite One Galaxy, a space-themed, glow-in-the dark shoe that nods to the space legacy of Florida, where this weekend’s game is happening in Orlando.

In Orlando on Thursday night, a Foot Locker House of Hoops store at Florida Mall cancelled a special 11 p.m. opening after police were called to handle a crowd of about 1,200 people, CNN affiliates Bay News 9 and WFTV reported.

The crowd outside the mall was moved across the street before the late-night opening. But at one point, people rushed toward the store, which was to sell the Foamposite One and other All-Star-related releases, the affiliates reported.

Kobe ex-wife slam dunk him in divorce settlement.

- Kobe Bryant's soon-to-be ex-wife has been awarded $75 million in a divorce property settlement, TMZ reported Friday.

The deal, which has already been finalized, sees mother-of-two Vanessa Bryant take close to half of the former couple's total assets, estimated at around $150 million.

She was awarded all three of the family's mansions in the Newport Beach area, sources told the website.
Vanessa Bryant already lives in one of the homes, her mother lives in another of the estates, and the third is a property that was recently completed after a two-year construction project.

The Los Angeles Lakers star's wife of 10 years filed for divorce in December amid reports of his numerous extramarital affairs.

She is reportedly seeking joint custody of their two daughters, Natalia, eight and five-year-old Gianna.
The Bryants married without a pre-nuptial agreement in 2001 when he was 21 and she was 18.
The union was opposed by the star's family, and he remained estranged from many of them until the birth of the couple's first child.

Kobe Bryant admitted adultery in 2003 after a hotel employee accused him of sexual assault -- a case that was later dropped.
