CNN Report Says What The Crime Was Really About

CNN correspondent Susan Candiotti quoted rather profane language that went unbleeped while reporting on a story from Tulsa, Okla. on Sunday.

Candiotti, who was covering a story about three African American men who were shot to death, said that police were examining a post on the suspect's Facebook page.

"It reads like this: 'Today is two years that my dad has been gone, shot by—' and please excuse the language, it's very sensitive—'shot by a f---ing [n-word]. It's hard not to go off between that and Sheran—' Sheran is [the suspect's] girlfriend, who according to family friends, committed sucide in front of the suspect in this case just last December...The Facebook posting goes on to say: 'I'm gone in the head. Dad and Sheran...I love and miss you. I think about you both every second of the day.'"

Back at "CNN Newsroom," anchor Fredricka Whitfield apologized to viewers. "Ok, Susan Candiotti in Tulsa. We apologize to our viewers for such profanities being used on our air. And we'll be right back with much more in the newsroom."

Candiotti also apologized for her language. "In quoting someone else’s words, I repeated their offensive and inappropriate language. I deeply regret it," she said.

This is not the first time a CNN correspondent has quoted the n-word while reporting on a story. Last month, CNN correspondent Drew Griffin also quoted the n-word while covering a hate crime case in Mississippi. Griffin was also not bleeped out.

CNN Lets N-Word To Be Said Openly On Air.

Viewers must have been startled on Thursday when CNN correspondent Drew Griffin said the n-word on air and was not bleeped out.

The moment came during a discussion about the hate crime conviction of a white Mississippi man named Deryl Dedmond Mississippi, who intentionally ran over a black man named James Craig Anderson. Griffin reported that Dedmond received life in prison after he pled guilty to the crime. He narrated video evidence of the events that took place on that June evening, which showed how Dedmond backed his pickup truck into Anderson and ran him over.

"Deryl Dedmond backs up and gets a good aim and just plows him over on the way out," Griffin said of the horrific crime. "To be absolutely factual, at the end of this, Deryl Dedmond is laughing with his friends and actually called on his cell phone and, pardon my language but there's no other way to say this, and said, 'I just ran over that f---ing [n-word]'"

Santorum Says Woman Not Strong Enough For Front Line, But Good For Support.

For a candidate with virtually no staff and who tends to talk off the cuff, Rick Santorum has been nearly gaffe-free. However, this evening might have been his first, and it comes at a time when he is trying to convince voters he is more than “just” a social conservative.

When asked about the Pentagon’s plan to allow women to serve in some combat roles, Santorum told CNN’s John King: “I want to create every opportunity for women to be able to serve this country . . . but I do have concerns about women in front-line combat.

“I think that could be a very compromising situation, where people naturally may do things that may not be in the interest of the mission because of other types of emotions that are involved. It already happens, of course, with the camaraderie of men in combat, but I think it would be even more unique if women were in combat,” Santorum added. “And I think that’s not in the best interests of men, women or the mission.”

Man Dies After Saving Woman From Carjacking

-- A 44-year-old New Orleans man died in front of his two sons Wednesday after he responded to a woman's screams and was shot by an apparent carjacker, according to police and family members.

Harry "Mike" Ainsworth was with his two sons, ages 9 and 10, as the boys were waiting for a morning school bus, Ainsworth's brother, Bill, told CNN affiliate WWL.

The two boys saw their father try to help the female motorist in the Algiers Point neighborhood and, after their father was shot, the boys ran to him and sat with him until emergency responders showed up, Bill Ainsworth said.

"They were there with him when he passed," Ainsworth said. "It's going to be hard on them."

"Pray the cops find him before I do," he said about the carjacker, in an interview with CNN affiliate WDSU.

The series of events began when a carjacker approached a woman motorist sitting in her vehicle, knocked on the window and asked for the time, New Orleans police said.
