White Girls Gone Racist Instead Of Wild

On the heels of a shocking and racist YouTube post by two teens in Gainesville, Fla., an uncannily similar video has surfaced in the state that purports the same disparaging sentiments against black students.


School officials at Santaluces High School in Lantana, Fla., are on alert, WPEC-TV reports, after two white female students posted the racist video about black students at the school, poking fun at the way they talk, and those that wear "weave" hair extensions.

At one point in the post, one of the girls says, "Guys, if you're watching this video now, and you have a weave, and you're black, please be offended -- because we're making fun of you."

Teacher Aide Left Daughter To Eat Out Of School Trash.

Tracy Lynn Betts, a 40-year-old teacher's aide from Temecula, Ca. was arrested last week after police say her 12-year-old daughter was found naked, abandoned and eating out of a trash can near Veil Elementary School, KCAL-TV reports.

Authorities were called Wednesday after residents claimed to see a naked girl rummaging through the garbage bins in the area. KCAL-TV reports that upon arrival, police found the girl sitting naked and hungry in a car.

The True Life Of Black American Youth

For a long time I believed that roaches, violence, and chaos were part of everyone’s childhood memories. In my neighborhood, Brownsville, Brooklyn, poor blacks and Latinos live isolated from wealthier minorities and other races. I’ve often been afraid to walk down my block alone for fear of being attacked.

As I got older, I realized that other people weren’t living in fear like I was. I began to feel like a statistic -- a black girl who lived in a place where mothers dote on drug-dealing sons and ignore the gun hidden under dirty laundry in the closet. I wondered if I had less of a chance to achieve the American dream because I had had less of a childhood. I wondered whether my race and the poverty I grew up in would hold me back from success and happiness. I had guidance counselors and teachers who sang the same old song about reaching for the stars and being determined, and I bought it enough to get good grades and plan to go to college. But those dreams were starting to sound like fairy tales.

Austin, an intrepid young student-reporter, embarks on the noble mission of answering the question, "How much basic knowledge do American high school students really have?" The answer, however, may not be exactly what you want to hear.

No Love On Valentines Day In One School.

Lovebirds at Horace Mann School in Newton, Mass. might have to save their Valentines for after school, as the elementary school's principal has suggested handing out origami instead of sugary treats, My Fox Boston reports.

According to the report, the school's principal sent out a letter to parents asking them not to send candy with their children, as last year the overabundance of treats interfered with regular school day operations.

The letter also noted that Valentine's Day candy violates the school's food-sharing policy, as well as efforts to teach students healthy eating habits, WHDH TV reports.

"God Wants Teachers To Remain Poor", Says Alabama GOP Lawmaker.

Someone alert the unions: raising teacher pay will actually make for worse teachers--according to one GOP lawmaker.

Alabama state Sen. Shadrack McGill said that increasing teacher pay is against "a biblical principle" because it might attract people who otherwise wouldn't do the job.

"Teachers need to make the money that they need to make," McGill said, according to the Times-Journal. "If you double a teacher's pay scale, you'll attract people who aren't called to teach ... and these teachers that are called to teach, regardless of the pay scale, they would teach. It's just in them to do. It's the ability that God give 'em."

Lack Of Control, Leads To A Fight Between Students.

Authorities paid a visit to Dekaney High School in Houston, Tex., after what students called an "outrageous" brawl broke out in the cafeteria, KHOU-TV reports.

"All these people came and just started hitting everybody," student Maya Rodriguez told the station. "After a while, I got hit and everybody just started fighting. So I hit back..."

A student caught the riot on cell phone camera, and told KTRK that students were throwing items like milk cartons in the cafeteria and trash cans in the halls.

Home Grown Hate Leads to Bomb Plot of Utah High School.

A Utah high school student bragged to police that he was smarter than the Columbine killers and was plotting with an older student to set off a bomb during a school assembly and escape in a stolen plane, court documents say.

Dallin Morgan, 18, and the 16-year-old boy were pulled out of school Wednesday and arrested after authorities learned of the plot, Roy police spokeswoman Anna Bond said Thursday.

The students prepared by logging hundreds of hours on flight simulator software on their home computers, and they planned to take a plane at Ogden Hinckley Airport after the bombing, Bond said.

Georgia Teacher Play Slave Catcher Game With Students?

Parents of students at Camp Creek Elementary School in Lilburn, Ga., are outraged after a 3rd-grader told her mother about a "slave game" students had been instructed to play, station WSBTV reports.

"It was kind of like tag, but we were slaves and slave catchers," mother Ericka Lasley said her daughter told her, the station reports.

Another parent, Charvia Rivers, says her children reported the same thing, but Gwinnett County Schools spokesman Jorge Quintana told the station that a district investigation found that the teacher did not organize the game.
