A man high on synthetic marijuana killed and ate a 30- to 40-pound dog, according to police.

Michael Daniel of Waco, Texas, was charged on Monday for an incident earlier this month in which he allegedly got down “on his hands and knees and chased a neighbor while barking and growling like a dog,” according to KWTZ.

Daniel then took a black dog onto a house's front porch, beat and strangled the canine and then “began to bite into the dog, ripping pieces of flesh away,” Waco Police Sgt. Patrick Swanton told KWTZ.

Daniel allegedly told neighbors he was high on synthetic marijuana, sometimes called K-2.

When officers arrived, Daniel had "blood and fur around his mouth," Swanton told KXXV.

Daniel is charged with cruelty to a non-livestock animal.

In a recent episode of his podcast "Penn's Sunday School," comedian Penn Jillette laid his opinions on the Obama drug policies out on the table.

Jillette, who has never done drugs or drank alcohol in his life, expressed particular concern over the policies' broad-sweeping, all-inclusive nature. Namely, that people are going to prison because of marijuana use.

"Now, he has not left this to states' rights," Jillette posited. "As you know, medical marijuana... you can get in California, and the feds are coming in to try to stop this. States' rights don't mean jack sh*t to the Obama administration on anything except gay marriage."

Another point of contention for Jillette was the fact that President Obama mentionedthat he had smoked "weed" and done "maybe a little blow" in his 1995 book "Dreams from my Father."

President Willing To Talk About Weed, But It Want Be Legalized,

Obama said he doesn't "mind a debate" over drug legalization even though he doesn't believe it “is going to be the answer."

“I don’t mind a debate on issues such as decriminalization,” Obama told Univisión’s Enrique Acevedo while in Colombia for the Summit of the Americas. "I personally don't agree that that's a solution to the problem, but I think that, given the pressures that a lot of governments are under here -- under resourced, overwhelmed by violence -- it’s completely understandable that they would look for new approaches and we want to cooperate with them."

Obama went on to clarify his own stance on the issue.

"I don't think legalization of drugs is going to be the answer," Obama said.

Obama will likely face pressure this weekend from other leaders who are pushing to legalize marijuana and other illicit drugs in an effort to prevent drug trafficking. The president -- who had a progressive attitude toward drug legalization during his 2008 campaign -- has since hardened his stance on the issue.

Obama's trip to Colombia made headlines Friday night when a dozen Secret Service agents providing security on the trip were relieved of duty because of allegations of misconduct. The Associated Press reported the misconduct involved prostitutes in Cartagena, site of the Summit of the Americas.

A group of marijuana activists seeking recreational use legalization for adults in Colorado expects to hear if they gathered enough signatures for a pot legalization question to appear on the 2012 ballot, the Associated Press reports.

In January, the Campaign to Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol turned in more than 160,000 signatures in favor of the legalization initiative -- nearly double the 86,000 signatures required to put the question of pot legalization on the 2012 ballot, The Denver Post reported. However, the Colorado Secretary of State's office determined that the activists fell short by about 2,400 verifiable signatures after conducting a random sample of the signatures that showed only roughly 50 percent of the signatures handed in were valid. Colorado state law requires that a random signature sample meet a certain threshold of validity or it triggers an automatic review.

Marijuana No Longer The Gateway Drug

In the classic 1936 cult film Reefer Madness, well-adjusted high school students who try marijuana suddenly sink into a life of addiction, promiscuity, aggression, academic failure, homicide and mental illness. The movie concludes with the ominous warning that “The dread marijuana may be reaching forth next for your son or daughter ... or yours ... or YOURS!” Newspaper headlines of the day often reflected a similar sentiment. On February 10, 1938, a headline in the Beloit (Wisc.) Daily News read, “Authorities Warn against Spread of Marijuana Habit—Insanity, Degeneracy and Violence Follow Use of Weed.”


Such a position on pot seems extreme. Yet just as people have since cast aside the notion that marijuana use inevitably culminates in the destruction of the mind, so have they also begun to question the concept that it is benign. In particular, some evidence suggests that marijuana can, in some cases, be addictive and that it may present other health problems as well, particularly in heavy users. That said, most people suffer no ill effects from a single or occasional use of the drug.

Kids want weed as young as 4- years old.

A four-year-old U.S. boy who announced to his teacher at school snack time that he wanted to share pulled nine bags of marijuana out of his jacket pocket, police said on Wednesday.

Police in Meriden, Connecticut were called to Hanover Elementary School Tuesday afternoon after the young special needs student displayed the drugs, authorities said.

Meriden police said the nine individually wrapped bags of marijuana appeared prepared for sale.
Hanover Elementary School principal Miguel Cardona called it an "extremely unfortunate" and "isolated" incident that was not witnessed by any other students
