Rick Santorum Says Trayvon's Case Should Be Left To Southern Justice

Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum says the shooting of an unarmed teenager in an Orlando, Fla., suburb was "horrible" and that the case is, in his words, a "chilling example of the horrible decisions made by people in this process."

Seventeen-year-old Trayvon Martin was fatally shot Feb. 26 while walking through a neighborhood in the suburb of Sanford.

The admitted shooter, George Zimmerman, 28, has claimed self-defense and invoked Florida's' "Stand Your Ground" law. The law gives people wide latitude to use deadly force instead of retreating during a fight, and explains why Zimmerman has not been arrested.

Said Santorum: "Stand your ground is not doing what this man did."

But when asked if the Justice Department should investigate, Santorum said that should be left to local and state authorities.

President Obama Has Had Enough Of Being Disrespected.

President Obama directly addressed a heckler on Thursday, asking the man to stop "being rude" and interrupting his speech.

While speaking on energy at Ohio State University, Obama was interrupted by a man repeatedly shouting.
"Sir, I'm here to speak to these folks," Obama said to the man. "You can hold your own rally. You're being rude."

The man appeared to be holding up a book that he wanted the president to read. Obama asked the man to pass the book forward to his staff.

"Sir, I'm trying to talk to these people," Obama said. "I'll be happy to read your book. If you wanna give me your book, I'll be happy to read it. But don't interrupt my conversation with these folks. Alright? Show me some courtesy, alright?"

White Millionaires Will Give Last Dime To Get Black President Out The White House.

The reclusive, super-wealthy Republican donor Harold Simmons sat down for an interview with the Wall Street Journal in which he explained why he decided to donate $18 million to conservative super PACs. To put it bluntly: he despises and fears President Barack Obama.

"Any of these Republicans would make a better president than that socialist, Obama," Simmons told the Journal (subscription required), in what is the piece's most provocative quote. "Obama is the most dangerous American alive … because he would eliminate free enterprise in this country."

An industrialist who heads Contran Corp., Simmons is not as well known as his fellow deep-pocketed, super PAC-backing brethren, Sheldon Adelson and Foster Friess. But the total number of dollars he's given makes him the biggest giver so far this election cycle. His sit-down with the Journal provided one of the first actual windows into what animates his politics.

The 80-year-old Texan takes his political advice from Karl Rove. And at another point in the interview, he insisted that if more campaign commercials had been run tying then-Sen. Obama to Bill Ayers, "we" -- as in conservatives -- "could have killed Obama." By this, he is speaking metaphorically, though the impression is left that those very ads will be featured more prominently in 2012.

Rick Santorum Is A Homophobe

Two men who kissed one another were kicked out of presidential candidate Rick Santorum's rally Friday evening at Christian Liberty Academy in Arlington Heights.

Santorum was 15 minutes into his speech when the two men shouted and got the attention of the crowd. They exchanged a kiss, prompting guards to eject them and the crowd to chant "U-S-A" while they were leaving the gym.

When asked whether the kiss was a public display of affection or merely a symbolic act, Timothy Tross of Lombard and Ben Clifford of Algonquin, declined to comment.

"I don't think the message should be about what my sexuality is," Tross said. "It's the message that he's saying about sexuality that matters."

Blacks Receive Only Debt When Parents Die, Poorest Is Generational.

In the basement of Hill House, a community center just outside of this city's bustling downtown, Brooklyn Davis clutches a plastic fork and stabs eagerly at a styrofoam plate piled high with waffles and syrup. He keeps a broad-billed, oversized New York Yankees baseball cap pulled low over his ears, and has a NASCAR jacket -- festooned with the "Army Strong" trademark and corporate logos from Office Depot and Chevrolet and Old Spice -- wrapped around his thin frame.

"I found out I was poor in middle school," Davis says between bites, as he recalls intermittent forays into the drug trade. "I had holes in my shoes and I started getting ripped on. So I just started hitting the block, and I was like 'Man, nobody's going to be bothering me now. I've got money in my pocket.' But I realized that can't go on too long."

Davis is now a Hill House regular, keen to have a chance at breakfast, access to computers and the use of a telephone. The facility is anchored in the historic Hill District, a predominantly black and widely impoverished neighborhood that begins in the shadow of the recently completed Consol Energy Center arena -- the $320 million home to the Pittsburgh Penguins professional hockey team -- and rises eastward along several of the city's steep ridges.

Gov. Brewer Says " Romney Is The Right Man", because He Isn't Black.

With Mitt Romney's victory in the Arizona GOP primary on Tuesday, Jan Brewer became the first Republican governor to endorse the winning candidate in his or her own state.

Brewer, who became the governor of the Grand Canyon State in 2009, announced her support for the former Massachusetts governor on NBC's "Meet the Press" earlier this week.

"I think he's the man that can carry the day," she said Sunday. "Mitt is by far the person that can go in and win."
According to a PPP poll conducted earlier in February, Brewer's endorsement could have been a decisive factor for some voters. About 25 percent of likely Republican voters polled said they would be more likely to vote for a candidate who had Brewer's stamp of approval.

Rick Santorum Say Just Blame It On The Black Man

Rick Santorum told a story Monday morning of a recent trip to Tioga, N.D., a burgeoning oil town that he said reminded him of a very far-off place, for which he blamed the Obama administration's regulators.

"It's a boom town. They're drilling everywhere. They're being overwhelmed by the growth there. But you can't find a builder to come in and build homes. You can't find anybody to invest in Tioga, North Dakota. Why? Because they're afraid the government's going to shut it down," Santorum said.

Builders, Santorum contended, "don't want to risk it. So they're building temporary structures that feel like you're in Afghanistan, because investors are afraid of what government might do."

Like Most White America, Rick Santorum Can't Admit When Their Wrong.

Republican presidential contender Rick Santorum accused President Barack Obama of "weakness" on Sunday for apologizing to the Islamic world over the U.S. military's recent burning of Qurans in Afghanistan.

The destruction of copies of the Muslim holy book has outraged much of the international Islamic community, and Obama apologized for what the American government has described as the inadvertent disposal of Qurans in a fire. Santorum's latest rhetorical attack on the president follows his recent questioning of Obama's religion, in which Santorum claimed Obama subscribes to a "phony theology."

During a Sunday appearance on ABC News, Santorum said that Obama should not have apologized for the holy book destruction because the U.S. military had only accidentally burned Qurans. Santorum then added that Obama's apology, rather than the actual burning of Qurans, was hurting both the image of America abroad and the U.S. military mission in Afghanistan.

A Roman Catholic, he is a beneficiary of more than two decades of cooperation between conservative Protestants and Catholics who set aside theological differences for the common cause of the culture war.

Doctrine – and anti-Catholic bias – once split Protestants and Catholics so bitterly that many evangelical leaders worked to defeat John F. Kennedy because of his religion. Wisconsin GOP Gov. Walker Fears President Obama Will Win State, That's Why State Has Jim Crow Voter ID Law.

Mitt Romney will “do very well” in Wisconsin if he wins the Republican presidential nomination, Governor Scott Walker said, although President Barack Obama has the edge heading into the November election.

Walker, a 44-year-old Republican who took office after the 2010 elections that also gave the party a majority in the U.S. House of Representatives, said “conventional wisdom” in his state is that Romney will face Obama. The president stands to gain from any improvement in the economy, he said.

“Any time you have an incumbent, it’s always an uphill battle,” Walker said on Bloomberg Television’s “Political Capital with Al Hunt,” airing this weekend.

“If they feel like we’re headed toward greater prosperity not only in Wisconsin, but across the country, then I think the president’s going to continue,” Walker said.

Bill Maher Put Money Were Mouth Is

Stephen Colbert may not support the idea of super PACs, but fellow political satirist Bill Maher is buying into the system -- literally.

During a performance of his comedy special "CrazyStupidPolitics" Thursday night, Maher announced a gift of $1 million to Priorities USA Action, an Obama-supporting super PAC. While he mocked the group's clunky name, saying it was "named by Borat," his publicist said that Maher was deadly serious about the donation and believed a second term for Obama was “worth a million dollars."

GOP Super PACs like Restore Our Future, which supports Mitt Romney, have allowed major donors to pump massive sums into the Republican presidential primary. President Obama was a long-time critic of the groups, but the threat of their fundraising power prompted a controversial change of heart earlier this month.

Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul decried the "war on drugs" Thursday night, telling supporters in Washington state that people should be able to make their own decisions on such matters.

Rick Santorum Talks Down To The 99%

Republican presidential contender Rick Santorum clashed with Tacoma Occupy protesters Monday night during his first visit to a state he said would be a "momentum changer" heading into Super Tuesday.

Minutes into Santorum's speech, protesters began chanting and shouting. They rarely stopped over the next half-hour.

"I think it's really important to understand what this radical element represents," Santorum, a former Pennsylvania senator, told hundreds of supporters gathered outside the Washington Historical Museum. "What they represent is true intolerance."

Santorum Is Now The GOP New White Savor Against The Black Anti- Christ.

Bathed in the candlelight of a Romanesque Texas church and framed at the altar by golden stained glass, Rick Santorum told a group of Dallas-area pastors Wednesday that he saw no boundary between faith and public life and that he "could not and would not leave my faith at the door" as he sought the presidency.

Then, as if in thanks, the pastors in the Bella Donna Adriatica Chapel in McKinney, Texas, gathered around Santorum in the church's central aisle for a laying-on of hands. "Get a hand on Rick, or get a hand on someone who has a hand on Rick," said the host.

Surrounding him like a pious rugby scrum, they prayed that God would direct the former Pennsylvania senator's steps as he seeks the Republican nomination.

Santorum Wins Nothing, But Talks The Coded Language Of GOP Racism

And what a great made-for-TV story it is, too. A neck-snapping turnaround for the former senator from Pennsylvania, who had peaked in Iowa five weeks ago and promptly disappeared. Lacking money and organization, he finished out of the money in New Hampshire, South Carolina, Florida and Nevada.

Now he roars back and wins big in Missouri and Minnesota, two middle-sized states that might claim to speak for the mainstream of the Midwest. Even more impressive is his narrower win in Colorado, a Western state Mitt Romney had won in 2008.

But wait! Some other news sources — not locked in the life-and-death struggle of cable news — say it was all meaningless. No delegates were chosen or committed or bound (or whatever it is they do with delegates at this stage of the game).

How can that be? It's one thing to be told at midnight that a race is too close to call. That's suspenseful, and suspense is good for keeping us all up and watching. But it's another thing entirely to be told a race, however close, is essentially meaningless.

Standing right behind Rick Santorum (over his right shoulder) as he gave his victory speech in Missouri after the Republican primary Tuesday night was Foster Freiss, the main financial backer of his super PAC.

Friess is a wealthy businessman and a bankroller of many conservative causes. His donations to the Red White And Blue super PAC have, more or less, given it the money needed to run the few ads it's aired. Among those ads include spots attacking former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich in Minnesota, another state that Santorum won on Tuesday.

Michele Bachmann Living In Never Never Land

Former GOP presidential candidate and Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) weighed in on the state of the Republican primary race in a recent interview, declaring that she "was the perfect candidate," even after her departure from the race.

Asked by Bloomberg TV's Al Hunt who of the remaining four candidates was the "most conservative," Bachmann responded by including herself in the mix.

"I was. I was the perfect candidate," Bachmann said in the interview, which aired on Friday. "America had their chance with the perfect candidate. But any of our candidates are going to be acceptable to the American people, and more than acceptable, because right now, if you look at the Gallup map that came out this week, President Obama is in big trouble all across the country."

Mitt Romney Does Care About Your Poor City.

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney said on Wednesday that he's "not concerned about the very poor," citing the social safety net in place for that segment of the populace and adding that he's focused on the middle class.

"I'm in this race because I care about Americans. I'm not concerned about the very poor. We have a safety net there. If it needs repair, I'll fix it," the Republican front-runner said Wednesday on CNN, following his victory in the Florida primary. "I'm not concerned about the very rich, they're doing just fine. I'm concerned about the very heart of the America, the 90 percent, 95 percent of Americans who right now are struggling."

GOP Call On Kids To Down The Poor.

First they announced their endorsement of Mitt Romney, then they weighed in on how much fun it is to fire people, and now they're back to put into perspective how little money $360,000 is. Speaking fees? More like, chump change.

As America waits with bated breath to see what happens in the Florida primary, these kids are here to remind everyone that having a president who isn't as rich as Mitt Romney is the single worst thing that could happen to this country.

Once Black President Is Gone Jobs Will Come Back.

Everyone wants to create jobs. Candidates and politicians propose a mix of tax breaks, government assistance, new legislation and so forth. But for Newt Gingrich, there's a much easier magical formula: just defeat President Barack Obama.

Gingrich held a large outdoor rally Sunday at the retirement community The Villages, attracting die-hard supporters, undecided Republicans and members of the community who simply decided to see what all the commotion was about as they were walking their dogs or going to lunch.

He laid out a startlingly simple plan to create new jobs, saying it would happen as soon as Obama is defeated -- as soon as on election night itself.
